Boys' Golf at Laurel

by Larry Knaak

April 15, 2008

The golf team traveled to Laurel for the Laurel-Concord Invitational on Monday, April 14th.  It had been postponed because of snow.  Because of seasonal snow and lack of consistent practice, the scores were not very good at the tournament.  Hartington CC, the winner with 325, and Oakland-Craig, the runner-up with 330, were way ahead of every other team.  The teams that had at least two golfers in the 80s finished ahead of Plainview as they ended 9th out of the 14 teams in attendance.

Nate Wragge-94, Josh Kounovsky-95, and Josh Scranton-96 were all 10-15 strokes above their average and ability.  Thus, none of them received a medal.  Adam Krueger with 99 finished the team scoring.  Krueger has not been in enough tournaments to establish his niche but he continues to improve with each meet.  Brett Korth who is awaiting new clubs that will improve his confidence, attitude, and scoring finished with 101.  This is the highest that he has ever shot in high school.

On Thursday, April 17, 2008, the team will travel to O’Neill to play in the O’Neill Invitational.  This will replace the dual with O’Neill which was cancelled because of weather.
