Successful Day of Speech on Home Turf
Although school was not in session on Friday, February 15th, the high school, junior high, and elementary buildings were filled with students in the hallways and in the classrooms. Over 200 students from thirteen area teams were here competing in various speech events. When the results were tallied, Plainview's own earned 20 medals (including 8 champions); the team runner-up trophy in varsity competition, and the team championship trophy in novice (JV) competition. Wausa won the team sweepstakes trophy for the varsity.
The following earned a 1st place medal for Plainview:

In JV rounds: —Ericka Albin & Kami Johnson, duet acting; Tyler Friedrich, entertainment; Gracie Hildebrant, poetry; Skylar Hoscheit, serious prose; Caitlyn Hart, persuasive; and the O.I.D. Group of Catilyn, Brittany Waldow, Jason Gutz, Turner Dahl, and Alex Haase.
2nd place went to Nicole White in varsity humorous prose and to Sara Christiansen in varsity persuasive.
3rd place—all in JV—Stephanie Sorensen, poetry; Brittany Waldow, informative; and Jason Gutz, humorous prose.
4th—in Varsity: Morgan Hall, extemporaneous speaking; and the OID team of Jordan Mosel, Nicole White, Derrick Mosel, Colin Wright, and Blake Christiansen
