Attention Plainview Businesses
Plainview area businesses are invited to participate in a Community Engagement Meeting on February 26th at 6:00 p.m. at Serendipity. A meal is planned for 6:00 p.m. with the meeting to follow. The meeting is being hosted by the Plainview Public School as part of a grant from the Nebraska Department of Education. The grant involves a strategic planning process called reVISION. The reVISION committee attempted to mail an invitation to all Plainview area businesses, but realizes that some businesses may have been missed. If you did not receive an invitation in the mail to participate, and would like to be a part of the reVISION process, please contact the Superintendent’s office at 402-582-4993 or email Superintendent Richard Alt at ralt@esu8.org by noon on Monday, February 23rd, so that the school can include you in its plans for the meeting.
The purpose of reVISION is to align the school’s Career Education programs with Nebraska’s economic and workforce development priorities. This will help the Plainview school to ensure that its students leave high school with the knowledge and skills required for employment or the continuation into a postsecondary education program. We know that education plays a critical role in training a qualified workforce that meets local and regional workforce needs of today and tomorrow, and the reVISION process is designed to bridge the gap that may exist between education and employment. The school needs input from area businesses to help align its Career Education courses with local, regional, and state workforce demands, and the school is also are seeking input on the knowledge and skills that students need for jobs in our local/regional economy. This work will help the school identify new (or revise) Career Education Programs of Study and courses that could be offered to students. Through this work, Plainview students will experience multiple pathways of college and career preparation.
