District Speech Results
Plainview competed in the district meet yesterday at Wayne State, where no team walked away with more than 7 state qualifiers. Plainview's seven included three champions: Nikki Mosel in informative, Kylee Jipp in serious prose, and Brittani Wacker in persuasive speaking. Other medalists who qualified for the state tourney include Matthew Bonta (3rd) in persuasive speaking; Austin Choat (3rd) in humorous prose; Morgyn Christiansen (3rd) in entertainment speaking; and the OID team of John Novicki, Matt Hoffmann, Matthew Bonta, Morgyn Christiansen,and Brittani Wacker, (also 3rd).
Jordyn Anderson (extemp), Autumn Ickler and Austin (in their duet), Jasmine Zuhlke (poetry), Jake Lingenfelter (entertainment), and Kylie and Nikki Mosel (in their duet), all earned medals, but unfortunately, missed the cut to qualify.
Crofton won the district meet with 352 points; Hartington-Newcastle was runner-up with 328 points, edging out Plainview by just 7 points (321 total). West Holt came in fourth with 186 and Laurel-Concord was fifth with 163.
The state tournament is held next week in Kearney at the college campus. Class C-2 performs on Friday, March 24th. All are welcome to attend.
