GOLF DUAL WITH O'NEILL
The opening dual between O'Neill and Plainview caught Plainview short-handed as they were unable to field a full team. It would probably not made a difference as O'Neill shot 172. Jacob Todd with 41 and Cole Gaughenbaugh with 42 led the team. Kenny Hart was low for Plainview with 46, This is a career low for Hart and a round that could have been better as he missed 3 short putts that would have resulted in a birdie on the hole. Jake Lingenfelter shot 49. Lingenfelter was 3 over after 5 holes but made some bad decisions over the next four holes. Colin Springer, playing in his first ever tournament, finished the team scoring with 58. Springer is adapting to a new swing as he has become much taller.
All three of these players will improve over the next few meets and with Tyler Masat becoming the fourth member of the team should be a respectable team. The problem with only having 4 varsity members is that nobody can have a "bad day". Teams play 5 on the team with the 4 low scores making up the team score.
Jordan Booth and Jacob Ziegenbein make their debut. With no previous experience and only having a few days for practice, they did a very good job. Booth started off poorly on the first 5 holes but finished up much better on the last 4. Booth shot 65. Ziegenbein also started off poorly and also improved the more he played. Neither of these two had played more than 2 holes during a practice session so both are commended for their play.
Next action is March 27th at the Osmond quadrangular.
