PLAINVIEW INVITE
Plainview was host to the Plainview Invite on April 8th.This was the 42nd Invite and is one of the oldest, if not the oldest boys golf Invite in the area. As expected there was a tight battle for the team title but West Holt prevailed with a score of 326 as they placed three golfers in the top-10. Randolph was second with 335 which barely beat out Creighton that had 336. Plainview was 10th with 412. This is too high a finish for the Pirates. The three experienced members of the team have to start doing better course management to lower their scores.
Chase Largen of Creighton was the medalist with an even par of 72. Mason Hale of West Holt had 74 for the silver medal while Jason Petersen of Stanton took the bronze medal with 76. Jake Lingenfelter led the Pirates with 98 that had him 28th of the 66 golfers in attendance. Lingenfelter had 49 on the front as he was never able to obtain a par. On the back Lingenfelter had 45 as he off-set the one double-bogie with a par and had bogies on the rest of the holes. Tyler Masat, having spent 3 days at FFA convention, was never able to get into a rhythm and he shot uncharacteristic rounds of 52-52. Masat placed 41st. Right behind Masat was Colin Springer who also had rounds of 52-52. These are the career lows for Springer. Springer played fairly consistent golf with only the #3 hole giving him much trouble.
Kenny Hart opened with a 52 that was one of the 6th one recorded of the 10 rounds of the Pirates. Playing his second round, Hart had two holes that started him off poorly. Hart was able to play the last five holes at 6 over par to shot 58. Jordan Booth, getting his first chance at playing from the regular tees and also playing 18 holes started out very poorly to record 73. Booth was then able to settle down and finish with 62 on the second round.
The Pirates will be in action on Tuesday, April 11th at Summerland for a triangular and then journey to Leigh for the Clarkson-Leigh Invite on Wednesday, April 12th.
