HARTINTON CC GIRLS GOLF INVITE
The Plainview girls replaced their triangular with Hartington CC and Crofton/Hartington with the first Hartington CC Invite. The girls also will not golf in the Wayne Invite to be held later this week. Hartington CC won the meet with 401 and Pierce was second. This is the exact opposite of the results of the Plainview Invite held last Saturday. Plainview did not have a full varsity team so they did not record a team score.
Elle Kment led the team with 114 which placed her 6 strokes from a medal. Kment was never in any rhythm during the front nine as she shot 62. Kment the played the back nine in 52 strokes for a career low nine-holes for her. Becca Kment was not able to duplicate her scores of the Plainview Invite as she shot 64-63. Becca Kment had the same three holes in each round that caused her problems. Becca Kment has improved faster than any girl that has started golf. Kayla Johnston was third member of the varsity. Johnston was able to get off the tee well but she lacked any touch around the green. Johnston often had more strokes around the green than she had getting to the green. Johnston shot 71-66.
Alexa Meyer and Aaliyah Brown played in a reserve role. The conditions for the reserves was the same as the varsity except they played with reserve girls. Meyer shot 79-77. Meyer had several bogies and double-bogies during her two rounds. However, Meyer also had several double-digit holes to off-set them and keep her from scoring much lower. Brown shot 80-81 that is somewhat high for her. Brown had several double-bogies but she did not have enough of them to off-set the double-digit holes.
This course was the sixth of the eight different courses that the girls will play this year. They have seen a wide variety of courses and conditions. They have had only two meets on their home course.
