Boys Golf O'Neill Dual
The 2018 boys golf team opened their season with O'Neill on March 27 at the O'Neill golf course. The Pirates were defeated 202-214.
Jake Lingenfelter and Colin Springer led the team as each shot 45. Both golfers had a triple bogey to mar a decent round. These two golfers will be leading the team this season as they are the only two returning letter-winners. Both golfers spent some time last summer playing some golf.
Riley Kaup and Matt Hoffmann who are both new to the game of golf played a respectful round. Riley Kaup, with more golfing experience, shot 58 as he opened his varsity season. Kaup will get better as he transition from casual golfing to competitive golfing. Jordan Booth was unable to make the trip but he would have been an asset to the team.
Playing in reserve action were Colton Choat and Jacob Ziegenbein. They played from shorter tees and had limited strokes. Since they were the only four-some playing, they were unable to finish a full round.
Coach Knaak was pleased with the effort and results of the team. The weather and several activities have hampered their practice time.
The next action will be at Rolling Hills on April 2nd.
