Lewis & Clark Tournament
The Plainview boys golf team continued their busy schedule with the Lewis & Clark Conference tournament at the Wakefield golf course on April 30th. The playing conditions were horrible as this is a small course and most holes run east to west or west to east. The wind was about 30-35 mph out of the south causing tee-shots to have a tendency to go out of bounds.
Jake Lingenfelter led the team with scores of 49-43 and a 13th place medal. Lingenfelter started off poorly on the first hole and also finished poorly on his round of 49. Lingenfelter had a better back nine even though he again started poorly. Riley Kaup shot a career low of 52 on his front nine. Kaup had 8 good holes. Kaup proceeded to lower his career low to shoot 51 on the back. Kaup again had 8 good holes in this round.
Colin Springer followed a suggestion to leave the woods in the bag except for a hybrid. This is a different approach for Springer but he played very well except for two holes in the middle of the round to shoot 55. Springer was able to lower his back nine a shot 51 as he became more comfortable playing with irons as the wind conditions made it necessary . Jordan Booth finished the team scoring with 58-52. Booth played 7 holes very well on his front nine. Booth played fairly consistent on his back nine for his 52. Booth was complimented on his smooth swing that he has developed. Matt Hoffmann again had his good holes off-set by some extreme poor holes in both of his rounds. This is the 8th course that Hoffmann has played this season and each course has it unique difficulties the Hoffmann has to learn.
The team will have two meets this week-end with the Stanton Invite on Friday and the Plainview Invite on Saturday before they prepare for Districts May 14th.
