FFA Banquet Held
On Monday, April 26, 2010 the Plainview FFA Chapter held their annual banquet. This night was jam packed with awards given out and the announcement of the new officer team. The night was opened with opening ceremonies by the 2009-2010 officer team. This officer team consisted of Sara Kromarek, Parliamentarian, Trent Christiansen, Sentinel, Nicole Sorensen, Reporter, Emily Gubbels, Treasurer, Alisha Pellatz, Secretary, Lindsay Krueger, Vice President, and Zach Masat, President.
Our three senior officers, Zach, Lindsay, and Alisha, gave their retiring addresses throughout the night. A potluck supper was provided with a slideshow afterwards. The Fruitsales award was given to the top 10 sellers that had earned a trip to Lincoln to the spring red/white football game. The speaking awards were presented to Rachel Sorensen and Caleb Neuhring in Creed Speaking and to Mark Keck in Prepared Public Speaking who also received 2nd at state. The Scholarship awards were given to the student in each grade that is the top of their class. Rachel Sorensen, Teresa Pellatz, Sara Kromarek, and Alisha Pellatz received this award. The Leadership awards went to Rachel Sorensen, Mark Keck, Nicole Sorensen, and Lindsay Krueger. Lindsay also received the Dekalb award for her leadership chosen by Mr. Kment. CVA presented the chapter with a check for the I Believe in Agriculture Campaign that the chapter participated in. The officer team had filled out a chapter rating application this year and received a gold on it. The proficiency awards were read and given out with 12 awards going out to the kids that had gotten their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE’s) done. Our three American Degree recipients were recognized along with the three State Degree recipients and the senior parents were asked to stand and be recognized. The certificate of appreciation went to 13 recipients who have helped us out throughout the year. The Honorary Degree was given to four recipient that included Richard Alt, Randy and Lorri Kumm, Mike and Shelly Masat, and Douglas and Louise Eggerling. The Discovery Degree was given to 8 Jr. High students that included, Stephanie Sorensen, Elijah Pellatz, Curtis Miller, Peter Gubbels, Dustin Springer, Miranda Hoffart, Natalie Lingenfelter, and Ryan Pellatz. The Star Discovery went to Curtis Miller. The Chapter Greenhand went to 8 High school students and they included, Cory Masat, Evan Aschoff, Caleb Neuhring, Brent Demerath, Colin Christiansen, Rachel Sorensen, Morgan Hall, and James Froehlich. The Star Greenhand went to Rachel Sorensen. The Chapter Degree went to Mark Keck, Ben Gubbels, DJ Hart, Teresa Pellatz, and Colin Christiansen. The Star Farmer was Teresa Pellatz, Star Agriscience was Mark Keck, Star Agribusiness was Ben Gubbels, and Star Placement went to Colin Christiansen. Then came time for the new officers to be announced. The 2010-2011 officer team consists of Ben Gubbels, Jr. Advisor, DJ Hart, Parliamentarian, Trent Christiansen, Sentinel, Teresa Pellatz, Reporter, Mark Keck, Treasurer, Emily Gubbels, Secretary, Sara Kromarek, Vice President, and Nicole Sorensen, President. We had a fun and awarding night and are excite to start the new year.
