Speech Team had 8 champions; 19 medalists!
The Plainview Speech team had 8 champions at the Creighton Invite on Saturday (March 3rd), and a total of 19 medalists. Mrs. Schindler says she hopes this propels them into districts next week with a good attitude and a good chance for success. We had some great performances, but also a few unexpected upsets competitors who have done well at other meets but didn't place as high in this one, but that can happen. Hopefully, it happens now, but not at districts. District competition will be on Wednesday, March 14 in Hartington. Meanwhile, varsity champions at Creighton's meet were Cody Mosel, entertainment; Sara Christiansen, poetry; Cherise Friedrich, humorous prose; and the O.I.D. team of Cherise, Kelsey Bonta, Brittany White, Cody, and Michael Moeller. For the novice, champions were Tayler Diedrichsen in both serious prose and poetry; Colin Wright in entertainment speaking, and the O.I.D. team of Jordan Mosel, Nicole White, Ashley Shaffer, Colin, and Derick Mosel. Earning second place medals were Shelby Wattier, humorous prose; Kelsey Bonta, persuasive; and Ashley Shaffer (novice) humorous prose. Third place medalists included Alicia in (novice) persuasive speaking and Nicole White in (novice) humorous prose. Fourth place went to Morgan Hall in varsity inform, Heidi Orona in varsity poetry, Briana Hamm in varsity persuade, and Jordan Mosel in novice informative. Shelby Wattier and Sara Christiansen ended up in 6th place in duet acting, as did Kaytlyn Johnston in serious prose.
