Speech Team Update
The speech team wrapped its regular season on a high note—bringing home medals and team trophies from three meets in two weeks time.
On Friday, February 26th, they earned the team CHAMPIONSHIP trophy at the Lutheran High Meet; on Saturday, Feb. 27th, they followed up with a THIRD PLACE FINISH overall among 17 schools in the very competitive Lewis and Clark Conference. And on Saturday, March 5, they earned the RUNNER-UP trophy among 15 schools competing at the Creighton meet, getting edged out of first place by just one point.
All that remains of their season is an OPEN HOUSE of performances on Tuesday, March 8 at 6:30 PM, their DISTRICT meet on March 16th, and STATE the following week.

CREIGHTON INVITE (March 5, 2016)
Varsity champions: Autumn Ickler in serious prose and Elle Kment in informative.
Novice champions: Kaydi Daudt, poetry; Andrea Haase and Grace Hoffman in humorous prose –these two tied for 1st and had to coin-flip for medals.
2nd place— In varsity: Austin and Nathan Choat, duet acting; the OID team of Matt Hoffman, John Novicki, Matthew Bonta, Brittani Wacker, and Morgyn Christiansen, and the Novice OID of Jake Lingenfelter, Brady Scott, Kylie Mosel, Grace Hoffman, and Jade Rickard
3rd place—Autumn Ickler, poetry; Nikki Mosel, informative
4th place—Kylee Jipp, poetry; Matthew Bonta, persuasive; and the OID team of Alex Haase, Nathan Choat, Nikki Mosel, and Elle Kment
5th place—Brittani Wacker, persuasive; and Andrea Haase, novice poetry
LEWIS & CLARK CONFERENCE MEET (Feb. 27, 2016)
After the prelim round, we had 15 out of our 18 team members who advanced—11 of them in championship finals, and 3 more in Honors Finals.
In Championship Finals:
Brittani Wacker earned the runner-up medal in persuasive speaking.
3rd place—Autumn Ickler was a dual medal winner in poetry and also in serious prose, and the Choat brothers—Nathan and Austin, in duet acting.
4th place: The OID team of John Novicki, Matt Hoffmann, Matthew Bonta, Brittani Wacker, and Morgyn Christiansen actually tied for 2nd place with two other schools, but after the tie-breaker, they ended up with the 4th place medal. Also earning 4th place were Matthew Bonta in persuasive; Nikki Mosel in informative; and Austin Choat in serious prose.
5th place: Elle Kment in informative
7th place: Morgyn Christiansen in entertainment
8th place: Ty Hampton in extemporaneous speaking
In Honors Finals
1st place—Jasmine Zuhlke in poetry
2nd place—the OID team of Jake Lingenfelter, Brady Scott, Kylie Mosel, Grace Hoffman, and Jake Rickard
3rd place—Jordyn Anderson in extemp.
Wausa won the conference meet with 155 points, Hartington was second with 135 points, and Plainview was third with 124 points.
LUTHERAN HIGH NORTHEAST (Feb. 26, 2016)
(At this meet, everyone competed at the varsity level; there was no JV division).
Autumn Ickler was a double champion—earning gold in both poetry and serious prose
