FCCLA Week 2024
Plainview FCCLA members celebrated FCCLA Week by creating different activities throughout Feb. 12-16th that members and all students and staff could participate in.
Members jump-started the week by wearing their chapter t-shirts for “IncREDible Members Day” and making about 500 candygrams after school that night. Tuesday was “IncREDible Service Day”. Members treated staff and students in the high school to strawberry and vanilla twist ice cream cones after lunch. “IncREDible Educators Day” was Wednesday. Students were encouraged to dress like a teacher. Some teachers represented throughout the day included Mr.Schumacher, Mr. Oestrich, and Mrs. Silhacek. Winners of the dress up day were Kiley Richter, Wyatt, Schroth, and Meleah Buck. They received Cool Beanz gift cards. Culinary class also made snacks for teachers and had them available in the teacher workrooms on Wednesday and Thursday. “IncREDible Skills Day” was Thursday. Students were on the prowl looking for hidden FCCLA symbols within the school. With other CTSO symbols hidden, the challenge was a bit harder. 5 students were able to find the correct symbols and received prizes. They were: Ashlynn Forbes, Kara Lingenfelter, Isaac Harder, Braedon Kment. Friday was “IncREDible FCCLA Day” with “Rock the Red!”. The entire student body was encouraged to wear red and members ran the concession stand at the basketball game that night.
During WIN each day FCCLA members would ask an FCCLA trivia question. The WIN Class that had the first correct response in Mrs. Jacobsen’s e-mail inbox received a bag of candy. WIN Classrooms that received candy prizes were Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Siklhacek, Mrs. Blair-Sauser, Mr. Yilk, and Mrs. Clemans.
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education in public and private school through grade 12. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life—planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal communication—necessary in the home and workplace.
The mission of FCCLA is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.
