FCCLA Attends Virtual District Leadership Conference
Thirteen of Plainview’s FCCLA members attended this year’s District 8 Virtual Leadership Conference themed “ZOOM into Your Future with FCCLA”. The conference was held at the Plainview Public Library via Zoom with live and recorded sessions. Through Zoom, the conference was held with 9 schools and approximately 160 students present.
The conference began with a welcome by state officers, roll call, singing of the national anthem and the installation of the district officers. Marque Albin, Plainview’s District Representative, was installed as the District’s Vice President of National Programs.
The keynote speaker this year was Ashley Rae Klinger, Mrs. International 2020. Ashley Rae Klinger is a wife and a proud mom to her adopted, 4-year-old son, Micah and a humble foster mom to three little girls who she welcomed into her home. She is a very active community member, giving back where God serves her. Through their recent journey with infertility, adoption, and foster care, Ashley Rae co-founded, with her husband Andrew, the BE A FOSTER Movement in 2019 in an effort to create conversation and understanding around the undeniable impacts of Foster care and the increasing need for loving Foster Families. She passionately represents BE A FOSTER as her official platform as the reigning Mrs. International 2020.
The conference then concluded with an Awards Session. Plainview members receiving awards for completing Power of One Modules were: Crystal Hintz, Working on Working; Shayla Jacobsen, Family Ties; and Logan Jacobsen, A Better You.
