FCCLA Holds Awards and Installation Night

FCCLA held their annual Awards and Officer Installation Night April 15 at 6:30 in the High School Media Center.  The evening began with a potluck supper followed by the awards, recognition of members, honoring of seniors, and installation of officers. 

 

Incoming Officer Anika Robinson presented the District Quiz Bowl certificates to Marque Albin, Shayla Jacobsen, Weston Hoffman, Roni Prewitt, and Baili Prewitt.  They competed at the FCCLA Knowledge Quiz Bowl in October at the District 8 Leadership Conference. 

 

Officer Kaydance Maertins briefly shared information about the Legislative Workshop members attended. She then presented certificates to those that attended: Shayla Jacobsen, Katherine Enriquez, Ilyana Barron, Anika Robinson, and Kiley Richter.

 

District Officer Marque Albin shared information about awards the chapter had received at its State Leadership Conference in April.  The chapter had received the following awards:  The Gold Star Chapter Award, Feed Nebraska, Membership Increase, and Junior Mints. Mrs. Jacobsen received the A.C.E. award.  The High Five Membership Award for recruiting 5 members was presented to Marque Albin, Shayla Jacobsen, and Kaydance Maertins. Shayla Jacobsen received her certificate for taking the Child Development and Parent Senior Knowledge Test.

 

Officer Kaydance Maertins presented the STEP One Certificates to new members Kobe Maertins, Kiley Richter, Anika Robinson, Ashlyn Forbes, Jameson Dobler, Kelsie Wingert, Connor Slater, Callie Taylor, and Katherine Enriques who earned this award by completing the STEP One Program where they learned about FCCLA, its purposes, and programs.

 

Officer Weston Hoffman shared information about STAR events and then gave students who competed in STAR events their District and State STAR Competition Certificates and medals.  At districts, Shayla Jacobsen received a gold medal, and placed First in her Level 3 Job Interview Event, qualifying for state.  At state competition she received Runner-Up in Job Interview, a gold medal, and qualified for nationals which will be held in Seattle, Washington.

 

Adviser Mrs. Jacobsen presented the Power of One Awards to members who completed goals within each module that they had set for themselves and worked to achieve this year. Members received a certificate for each module they completed this year with the goal to complete all 5 units by their senior year.  Receiving certificates this year in the following modules were “A Better You”: Weston Hoffman; “Working on Working”: Marque Albin, Baili Prewitt, Kaydance Maertins; “Speak Out for FCCLA”: Marque Albin; “Family Ties”: Weston Hoffman, Kaydance Maertins”; “Take the Lead”: Shayla Jacobsen and Marque Albin”.  Shayla Jacobsen and Marque Albin received their District Power of One Certificates for their work in completing their Power of Ones from last year. Jacobsen completed “A Better You” and Albin completed “Working on Working”. Receiving a certificate and plaque for having completed all five units this year was Marque Albin.

 

Members meeting the requirements to attend the Summer Incentive Activity, based on chapter involvement, received their certificates. They were Shayla Jacobsen, Baili Prewitt, Kaydance Maertins, Ashlyn Forbes, Kiley Richter, Katherine Enriquez, Anika Robinson, Callie Taylor, Kaydance Maertins, Ilyana Barron, Kelsie Wingert, Meleah Buck, Jameson Dobler, Baili Prewitt, and Dakotah Albin. The summer activity will be decide on before school is dismissed for the summer.

 

Adviser Ronita Jacobsen presented outstanding member awards.  This year one member met the criteria for “Outstanding Member of the Year”.  Shayla Jacobsen was presented a trophy for the work she did this year in the categories of Chapter Contribution, Community Involvement, and Personal Development. 

 

Officers for the 2024-25 year were announced and installed: President Shayla Jacobsen, Vice-President Kaydance Maertins, Secretary Anika Robinson, Treasurer Meleah Buck, Public Relations Ashlynn Forbes, Historian Weston Hoffman.

 

The night concluded with the giving of senior gifts and watching the end-of-the-year video.  Members will be calling donors at the start of May for the May 15th blood drive to be held from 9-3 at the high school.  Donors may go online to redcross.org and begin registering for their donation times.
