FCS Awards Presented
During Honors Night May 12, Family and Consumer Sciences Students were recognized for their academic achievements and certifications throughout the year.
Early Childhood Education students were recognized for the work in completing state certification to work in licensed childcare centers in the state of Nebraska. Students were able to complete the certifications with Mrs. Jacobsen who is a certified trainer of “Safe with You” and “Active Supervision of Children”. Completing the state required “Safe with You” course at Plainview High School were Brooke Forbes, Landon Hergert, and Autumn Forbes. Shayla Jacobsen completed “Safe with You” in the fall at Northeast Community College through her Introduction to Early Childhood course there, along with her background check and fingerprinting with the NE State Patrol. Other students will need to complete their final background check and fingerprinting. All students also completed “Active Supervision of Children” with Jacobsen and their Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course with Nurse Beth Ramold. Their certifications are on file with the Nebraska Early Childhood Professional Record System (NECPRS).
