District Champions; State-Bound

The speech team brought home the championship trophy from the C2-3 District contest on Monday and qualified 10 events for State.   Those medaling and earning the opportunity to compete in the State contest on March 19 include the following:

Champions – Sarah Meuret in persuasive speaking;  Cherise Friedrich in Humorous Prose;  and Heidi Orona, Poetry

2nd place –Cody Mosel, entertainment;  Zach Masat, informative, the OID team of Kelsey Bonta, Zachary Masat, Sarah Meuret, Michelle Sauser; and the Duet Acting team of Cherise Friedrich and Shelby Wattier.

3rd place—Kelsey Bonta, informative;  Michelle Sauser, entertainment;  and Stephanie Westerhaus, extemporaneous.

Other team members made finals, but only the top three advance to State.  Kaytlyn Johnston earned a 4th place medal in serious prose; Britton Hamm earned 6th place in poetry, and Shelby Wattier placed 6th in humorous prose.
