In April 2010, the Plainview Schools Board of Education voted to form the Plainview Public
Schools Foundation. In doing so, the Board of Education created an opportunity for Plainview alumni and community members to make a difference in the quality of education provided to Plainview students. The Plainview Public Schools Foundation, organized as a non-profit corporation exclusively for educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, provides an avenue for private contributions to be made to the district and its programs. In forming the foundation, the Board of Education hopes people will consider donating money to support student scholarships, creative curriculum projects, professional development, enhancing the fine arts and technology, and joint school-community ventures.
Donations made to the foundation can take on various forms, including support of specific projects identified by the Board of Directors, specific projects identified by the donor, and donations to be used at the discretion of the directors.
The Foundation Board of Directors governs the foundation. The Board of Directors is an independent, volunteer body with the powers to provide fiscal guidance and governance for the foundation. Although the foundation works closely with the school district leadership to obtain information about district needs, the governance and decision making of the foundation board are entirely separate from the school. The Board of Directors makes all decisions regarding fund raising and allocation of funds. The current Board of Directors is composed of Krista Hanks, Brian Ickler, Delford Kroeger, Holly Meuret and Janyce Warneke.
