Speech Team Sends 5 Events to State!
Well, it was a day of emotional highs and disappointing lows; but in the end, Plainview Speech did walk  away from the C2-3 district with 5 events qualifying for the State Speech Meet.    Those earning a trip to State include Cherise Friedrich, a champion in humorous prose;  Kelsey Bonta, 2nd place in persuasive speaking; Stephanie Westerhaus, 2nd in extemporaneous speaking; Morgan Hall, 3rd in informative speaking, and the OID team of Cherise, Kelsey, Cody Mosel, Michael Moeller, and Britton Hamm.
âÂÂThose who qualified will represent us well at State, and IâÂÂm very happy for them--they are a very talented bunch.  Of course, we did hope to qualify others who have also competed well all season, but the cards just didnâÂÂt fall our way.  It was a very tough district, with the top 3 teams in State last year (Hartington, Stanton, and Plainview), all competing, as well as other very worthy teams,â according to Mrs. Schindler.
Several  other members of the squad did make finals and earned district medals:  Shelby Wattier, in both humorous prose and duet acting; Cody Mosel and Sam Meuret in entertainment;  Heidi Orona and Britton Hamm in poetry;  Kaytlyn Johnston in serious prose, Brittany White in informative, and Sara Christiansen in duet acting. Â
State Speech takes place in Kearney, on Friday, March 25th. Â Â Schedules will be available at www.nsaahome.org, by clicking on the SPEECH page, then finding the link: Â State Entries/Room Assignments & Schedule for Class C-2.Â
Meanwhile, the public has one last opportunity to see all the kids perform --on Monday, March 21st, Â at the high school, starting at 7 p.m. Â They will all present their speeches for the public. Â Everyone is invited to come watch, enjoy, and support the team. Â Â
