Introduction to Human Services and Education (Intro. To HSE) students, with the collaboration of all Career and Technical Education Teachers (CTE), have been creating displays at the high school which demonstrate how courses offered at Plainview relate to various careers.

The displays reinforce the importance of students taking a variety of CTE classes (Ag, FCS, ITE, Business, and Technology) in addition to their regular core classes to become college and career ready.

Revelations have been made among students as this project progressed from a classroom unit of study on the Nebraska Career Clusters Model and its programs/pathways to the creation of the displays.  Kaelee VanEvery stated, “I was surprised to find out that although FCS falls into the Humans Services and Education Career Cluster, FCS courses actually appear in all career clusters and fields. “  Laredo Stacken added, “I can now see the relevance of taking FCS, Business, and Technology, in addition to my art classes as I pursue my interest in graphic design.”

At this point displays have been created for the careers of Personal Trainer, Veterinarian, Interior Designer, Finance (Accounting), Iron Worker (Welding), Architect, and Cosmetologist, and Health Care.  Dress forms for the displays are on loan from Evie Kroeger with display items supplied from students, CTE program areas, and local business.  Displays will change every 1-2 weeks during February’s “Celebrate CTE Month”.
