March 1st is NTHS/NHS Blood Drive
Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. More than 44,000 blood donations are needed every day. You can help the Red Cross fulfill its need for blood by donating at the blood drive March 1st from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at Plainview High School. Senior members of National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) and National Honor Society (NHS) will be hosting the blood drive.
"With a goal set of 83 donations by the Red Cross a great turnout is needed. Additionally, the Red Cross provides scholarships to students based on the number of donations per school year. So come and donate March 1st...save a life and help our local seniors at the same time!", stated NTHS Adviser Ronita Jacobsen.
What should you do to prepare for the blood drive? Make sure that you are hydrated and you are wearing comfortable clothing. Remember to bring along your ID (donor card, driver's license, or two other forms of identification) along with a list of medications you are taking. You must be 17 years of age and weight at least 110 pounds to donate. High school students will also need to bring along a signed parent permission form, which can be picked up from Ronita Jacobsen at the school.
If you would like to make a donation, please contact Ronita Jacobsen at Plainview High School 582-4991 or contact the Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767). We look forward to seeing you there!
