FCCLA Membership Kickoff Aug. 20
FCCLA will hold its annual Membership Kickoff Picnic August 20 at 6:00 pm in the FCS Room. Any 7-12 grade student is able to join FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America). Parents are encouraged to attend the meeting, which will begin with a supper provided by the FCCLA Officers. Adviser Mrs. Jacobsen will hold at 6:30, following the supper, a special informational meeting for parents. During that time, students will participate in the “Get a CLUE About FCCLA” activity led by the FCCLA Officers. Anyone wanting to gain more about information FCCLA is encouraged to attend the meeting. Additionally, any past FCCLA/FHA members (alumni) wanting to remain involved with FCCLA may attend the meeting or contact Jacobsen. There are a variety of ways to stay involved in FCCLA as volunteers are always needed to assist at local activities and to judge events at conferences. Questions regarding FCCLA and its activities may be addressed to Adviser Ronita Jacobsen at Plainview High School.
FCCLA is a dynamic and effective national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education. FCCLA: The Ultimate Leadership Experience is unique among youth organizations because its programs are planned and run by members. It is the only career and technical in-school student organization with the family as its central focus. Participation in national programs and chapter activities helps members become strong leaders in their families, careers, and communities.
