Senior FCS Students Complete Programs of Study
During Honors Night May 9, seniors were recognized for completing programs of study in the Human Services and Education Career Field (Family and Consumer Sciences). To complete a program of study, students are required to take all classes within that program as outlined by Nebraska Department of Education.
Teya Boyer completed the Early Childhood Education and Services Program of Study by taking Lifespan Development, Child Development, Best Practices in Early Childhood Education and Training, and Early Childhood Education Practicum.
Teya Boyer and Madelynn Doughtery completed the Culinary Arts and Event Planning Program of Study by taking Fundamentals of Nutrition and Culinary Essentials, Culinary Skills 1, and Culinary Skills 2.
During Culinary 1 Teya and Madelynn completed the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe Food Handler Course. The ServSafe Food Handler course covered five sections, which included Basic Food Safety, Personal Hygiene, Cross-contamination and Allergens, Time and Temperature, and Cleaning and Sanitation. Throughout the course students gained much knowledge regarding food safety, worked through real case scenarios, and put into practice food safety guidelines. The ServSafe Food Handler Program, developed by the National Restaurant Association, is the only food safety program that invests its proceeds back into the industry. Nationally recognized as the premier training for the restaurant and hospitality industry, the National Restaurant Association's ServSafe® Program is the trusted source for food safety training.
Both Madelynn and Teya completed additional FCS courses in addition to their completed Programs of Study receiving a well-rounded Human Services and Education background to prepare them for their future careers.
