2024-25 Members...minus 8...so hard to catch everyone!...but most we have in one photo!

Plainview FCCLA members celebrated FCCLA Week by creating different activities throughout Feb. 10-14th that members, all students and staff, and community could participate in.

Members jump-started the week by wearing their chapter t-shirts for “Treat Your Members Day” and making hundreds of candygrams after school.  All members received a package of cookies for being “One Smart Cookie” for joining FCCLA this year. Members used the proceeds from the candy grams to set up a Kment Strong Gas Credit Account at Steinkraus Service in Plainview.  Anyone wanting to contribute to the account in the following weeks can stop by Steinkraus’s and do so.

Tuesday was “FCCLA Day of Service”. Members continued to work on candygrams while others prepped and prepared soups for teachers’ lunch tomorrow.

Wednesday was “FCS Educator Day” as it landed on October 12, the actual day it is recognized. Students were encouraged to dress like Mrs. Jacobsen. Members got together and posted pictures of their favorite “Mrs. Jacobsen facial expressions and mannerisms”. Thursday was “FCCLA/FHA Alumni Day”.

Members treated 7-12 staff and students to strawberry and vanilla twist ice cream cones after lunch.  Students were also on the prowl looking for hidden FCCLA symbols within the school. Baili Prewitt and Riley Miller were able to find the symbols and received prizes. Even though there was not school on Friday, members celebrated with “Wear Pink Day” and be “Kment Strong”.  The entire student body was encouraged to wear pink or their Kment Strong Shirts to the game.  FCCLA members ran the concession stand at the basketball game that night with proceeds going to the Kment Family. During half-time of the game, Mrs. Jacobsen and Weston presented the Kment Family with card and information about the gas credit account at Steinkraus Service Station.

During announcements each day FCCLA members would ask an FCCLA trivia question. The classes that had the first correct response in Mrs. Jacobsen’s e-mail inbox received a bag of candy.  Classrooms that received candy prizes were Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Kush, Mrs. Jacobsen, and Mrs. Mosel.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students in Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education in public and private school through grade 12. FCCLA offers intra-curricular resources and opportunities for students to pursue careers that support families. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and develop skills for life—planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal communication—necessary in the home and workplace.

The mission of FCCLA is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.
