April 12, 2025

With the sun shining and the wind blowing, the Plainview Community Easter Egg Hunt was in full action on Saturday, April 12. Over 1500 eggs were scattered across the front of the Plainview Elementary School, Bandshell Park, and Elementary playground. While the 100 plus excited children waited to be turned loose, they played games created by Child Development, Early Childhood, and Education and Training students at the high school.

To begin the hunt, children gathered by age groups in different areas, got in the running stance, and then the action began! Baskets quickly overflowed with children then returning to empty their eggs and get their drink and prize. Eggs are always emptied and returned so they can be used for following years.

Plainview Ball Backers provided the 2 Strider Bikes. Two eggs had “WINNER OF STRIDER BIKE” in them.   Winners this year of the bikes were: Genesis Sinkler, and Rory Todd.  Congratulations to them!

Thanks to sponsorships, all children were able to select a Hog Wash juice drink along with a prize.  The Plainview Chamber of Commerce was responsible for the candy and prizes this year and Mahaska provided the Hog Wash drinks. Students in CTSOs FCCLA, FFA, Educator’s Rising, NTHS and other students just wanting to help, filled the eggs with candy and helped with the Easter Egg Hunt.

“This truly is a community event. It may be more FCCLA organized, but it takes everyone in the community working together to make it a success. There are always new things to try and do differently each year. Thank you, parents, for bringing your children in. We so enjoyed having them!” stated Ronita Jacobsen FCCLA Adviser. “CTSO Members enjoyed being able to do this again for the children in our community. We appreciate the sponsorships. Your support made this event possible.”
