FCCLA Holds Membership Kickoff

The Plainview FCCLA Chapter held their annual kick-off on August 19th at 6:00 p.m. with this year’s theme “Navigate Your Future”.  Following a supper provided by the officers, a slide show featuring last year’s events was viewed.

The FCCLA 2025-26 Officers introduced themselves as: President Kaydance Maertins, Vice-President Dakotah Albin, Secretary Ashlyn Forbes, Treasurer-Jaden May, Public Relations Ilyana Barron, National Programs Scarlet Torrey, and Historian Meleah Buck.

Dakotah Albin then presented members with information about FCCLA. Members were provided a calendar of events for the school year explaining conferences, local events, competitive opportunities, and information about dues.  Dakotah Albin explained the dues information and Kaydance Maertins talked about the t-shirt design for this year.

Members were also told about the Fall Leadership Conference which will be Monday, Sept. 15th, at Wayne State College. Attendance is $25 which includes lunch on campus. Members must pay and register with Mrs. Jacobsen to attend by Sept. 3rd.

 

Fundraising catalogs were given to attendees with orders and money due by September 5. $20 Dues and $15 shirt orders money are also to be turned in by September 5th. Proceeds from fundraising may be used for their dues, t-shirts, and conference registrations. 

 

Officers then played a variety of games: Captain Hook Rink Toss, Pin the Eye Patch on the Skeleton, Treasure Chest Coin Toss, and Fish for Treasure. At the conclusion of the night, attendees had a Pirate Scavenger Hunt to learn more about FCCLA.  The next FCCLA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 26th at 6:30 pm. Members will complete the STEP ONE Activity where they will learn more about FCCLA and earn ice cream sundaes/float.
