Plainview CTSO’s Blood Drive Brings Community Together to Save Lives
Students and staff at Plainview High School are rallying the community to participate in a lifesaving blood drive scheduled for Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The event, hosted by the school's Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs)—FCCLA, FFA, and Educators Rising—in partnership with the American Red Cross, aims to collect 36 units of blood to support local hospitals.
"With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, our community's blood supply must be constantly replenished," organizers noted. "This blood drive is our way of ensuring that patients in local hospitals have a ready supply before emergencies occur."
The blood drive will take place at the Plainview High School Tartan Gym from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Community members interested in donating can make an appointment by calling 402-582-4991, visiting redcrossblood.org, or using the Red Cross App.
The Red Cross offers RapidPass®, which allows donors to complete their pre-donation health history online before arriving at the drive, significantly reducing wait times. Eligible donors can access RapidPass at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or through the Red Cross Blood Donor App.
All donors who give between January 1-25, 2026, are automatically entered to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LX in California's San Francisco Bay Area. Additionally, donors with O, B negative, or A negative blood types are encouraged to make a Power Red donation, which allows them to provide twice the lifesaving power by donating red blood cells while plasma and platelets are returned to them.
For eligibility questions, community members can call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit RedCrossBlood.org.
