Golfers Take 3rd at NENAC
The Plainview golf team played their best golf of the season at
NENAC on Thursday, May 14th. After the front nine, the Pirates were
tied with West Holt for the lead with 167. They were able to hold
the lead until the 18th hole that did in three of the golfers. West
Holt won with 341 and Creighton passed Plainview and took second
with 343. Plainview had their best score of the season with
345.
Nate Wragge was able to hold his front nine lead of 38 and finished
the back nine with another 38 to win the gold medal. Wragge was
able to overcome a double and a triple to record this score. Riley
Meuret had a front nine of 42 and came back with 45 to earn the
10th place medal. Meuret was never comfortable when putting and
could have been much lower. Adam Krueger played a consistent front
nine at 47 and then improved to a 43. Krueger was able to avoid any
bad holes and it led to a good score for him. Britton Hamm also
shot 42 on the front but also ran into some trouble on the back to
finish with a 50. Hamm will have a low total when he puts two good
rounds together as he is capable of doing. Zac Masat gained back
his stroke that was lost playing baseball to put two fairly
consistent rounds of 45-47. Masat has the touch around the greens
and scores when he gets off the tee box.
Plainview JV was able to finish first over Randolph and West Holt
with a score of 382. Jacob Proskovec led the team with two rounds
of 47. Proskovec placed 2nd among the reserves. Proskovec probably
played his best golf of the season. Proskovec intends to play a lot
of golf this summer and should be able to find a varsity spot next
year. Nic Miller started out 8 over on his first two holes but was
able to hold his composure and played some good golf for the next
16 holes to finish with 98. Bret Springer played good golf for 16
holes to also shoot 98. As Springer becomes comfortable playing in
competition he will lower his scores. Springer and Miller tied for
4th in the reserve action.
