On Monday, May 22 sophomore Jake Lingenfelter and Coach Knaak traveled to Kearney so that Lingenfelter could practice for  the Class C Boys Golf Championship to be held at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course on May 23rd and May 24th.  Lingenfelter's district score was good enough to start him on the 1st tee rather than the 10th tee as half of the field had to do.  Jake had the honor of being the first golfer off the tee to start the championship.

Jake shot  a 45 on the front nine that 3 pars, 3 bogies, and 3 double-bogies.  On the back nine a triple bogie and a double bogie marred his round as he came in with a 43.  His 98 placed him 48th in the field.

The second day, Lingenfelter  again led off the 1st tee to start the final round of the championship.  Lingenfelter played much better as he recorded a 40 on the front.  Only a double bogie and two bogies kept him from scoring much lower.  On the back nine, Lingenfelter was four over with three holes to play but he was unable to finish strong and ended with a 45.   Lingenfelter's two day total was 10 strokes from receiving a medal

This two day total place Lingenfelter tied for 40th place.    This experience along with practice this summer will enable Lingenfelter to have a chance to return to the championships and place even lower.
