BOYS GOLF AT LEIGH
The Plainview golf team traveled to Leigh to participate in the 10-team Patriot Invite. The Pirates again played with a short team as Tyler Masat was unable to travel with the team. However, having just played a course with very large greens, the Pirates were able to shoot some of their best golf of the season. The team finished 8th with a 415. David City won the meet with 353 while BRLD was second at 355.
While Jake Lingenfelter did not place as well as he had a year ago, he still medaled with by placing 8th. Lingenfelter opened with a 47 as had a triple and a double in the middle of the round. Lingenfelter was able to off-set two doubles on the second round with a birdie on the finishing hole and shot 41 for an 88. Colin Springer shot his low round of the year as he opened with a 51. On the back nine, Springer was able to better his score and shoot 50 that was marred by a quad. Springer played well as he is seeing all of the courses for the first time.
Kenny Hart had trouble with the par 5s as he opened with 52. However, he was unable to duplicate the round as two quads and two triples left him at 56 on the back. Jordan Booth had his best round of the year of 55 even though he started the round with a 10. Booth finished the team scoring with a 63 on the back. Booth is not used to playing two rounds a day and he seemed to get tired.
The Pirates take a break with only one meet next week with dual against Norfolk Catholic at the local course.
