HCC Golf Invite
The Plainview boys golf team traveled to Hartington on Tuesday, April 24 for the Hartington CC Invite with a partial team. Three of the varsity played so that a team score was not recorded. HCC won the tournament with a score of 323 while Battle Creek and Creighton tied with 326. Matthew Schaefer of HCC and Chase Largen of Creighton tied for medalist honors with Schaefer winning the play-off. Each shot 70 that is 2 under par.
Colin Springer shot a 51 on the front nine that included a 12 on the par 5 8th hole and a triple bogey on a par 3. The rest of his front nine was respectable. Springer shot 49 on the back nine that a triple and a double with the rest bogies. Jordan Booth started on #8 and he recorded a 10 and then had sand trouble on 9 that put him 10 over after 2 holes. After a discussion, he proceeded to play better the rest of the front nine to score 61. Booth still had trouble on #8 but he improved by one stroke. He then had a par #9. Booth then played well until he lost some concentration on a hole that led to another discussion. Matt Hoffmann also had problems on the par 5s. Hoffmann is not long off the tee yet and worries about reaching the green on the long holes. Except of a disaster on the par 3 #9 hole he played the rest of the holes well for his experience.
These three golfers will stay home on Thursday, April 26th as Jake Lingenfelter and Riley Kaup travel to Rolling Hills for the Osmond Invite.
