West Holt Invite
The Plainview boys golf team traveled to Atkinson for the West Holt Invitational on April 28. Plainview did not fare very well as a team as they were 10th of the 15 teams. Creighton, placing 3 out of the top 4 golfers won with a score of 317. West Holt was second with 326. Plainview had 419 that is the highest score of the season.
Jake Lingenfelter led the team with an 89 that placed him 18th. This is the lowest placing for Lingenfelter this season. Lingenfelter had one of those days where if his ball was off target, it landed under a tree or just rolled into the water. Lingenfelter will have a chance to redeem himself in the next two weeks, especially at conference and district competition. Colin Springer played good golf for the most part but 3 holes with a score of 7 caused him to have 51 on the front. Springer shot 53 on the back but only two holes gave him problems.
Riley Kaup had 57 on the front and then improved to 53 on the back nine. Kaup has to learn to forget a bad shot and not compound the score on the hole by making another bad shot. He continues to improve and can help us in the next two weeks. Jordan Booth finished the team scoring with 59-57. He also must learn not to have really bad holes. Example, on the back nine he shot fairly well until the last hole and then had a 10. Matt Hoffmann scores were not used in the team scoring. Hoffmann was playing his 6th new course. This course had water as the main obstacles and he did not fare very well against them. Hoffmann is progressing and hopes to provide us some help in the next two weeks.
The team travels to Wakefield on Monday, April 30 for conference golf
