Stanton Invite

By Larry Knaak on May 07, 2018

Jake Lingenfelter placed second at the Stanton Invite on Friday, May 4 with rounds of 41-39.  Riley Huettner of Humphrey St. Francis was medalist with a 79.  The team placed 7th with a score of 400 that is the lowest Invite score of the year.

Lingenfelter tripled his opening hole on the front nine but was able to recover for his 41.  On the back nine Lingenfelter was unable to master the par 3s but still played very steady.  Colin Springer had 46 on the front nine as he played a smart round with only two double bogies.  Springer continued  to play well except the #5 hole where O-B and trees gave him trouble.   He then proceeded  to end his last hole poorly.  Springer had 51 on the back nine for a score of 97.

Riley Kaup shot 55 on the front nine as he had two holes in a row before he started scoring.  On the back nine Kaup played well except for three holes in a row to shoot another  55.  Matt Hoffmann ended the team scoring  as he shot 59 on the front that included an 11.  He then proceeded to have a career low round of 54 for a career total of 113.   Jordan Booth's score of 114 was not used in the team scoring.   Booth opened the front nine with a very good score of  50 but he lost some concentration on the  back nine to end up with 64.

The Pirates will continue their Invites when they host the Plainview Invite on  May 5th.  They will then prepare for districts on May 14 at Pender.  Since the Pirates are in Class D this year for  the  first time, they are looking to qualify for State
