District Golf
The Plainview boys golf team traveled to Pender for the D-2 Districts at Twin Creeks golf course. This is the first year that Plainview has been classified as D. Osmond won the district with Howells-Dodge and Clarkson-Leigh tying for second. Plainview ended up 6th in the team standings with a score of 410. Osmond won with 359.
Jacob Lingenfelter was not on his game as he shot 47 on the front nine and then he had 49 on the back nine. On the front nine a long par 4 gave him trouble with an O-B and then a three-putt. He then had trouble on the back nine with the same hole and he followed this up with an uncharacteristic 9 on a hole while trying to do too much. Lingenfelter's 96 tied him for 14th. Colin Springer and Riley Kaup both had their best 18 hole scores of the season. Both of them opened with 52 on the front but Springer shot 46 on the back while Kaup had 48. Their scores were not enough to move the team up in the standings. Springer placed tied for 18th and Kaup tied for 23rd.
Senior, Matt Hoffmann finished the team scoring with 63-53. Hoffmann made tremendous strides in his scoring as he finished his first year of golf. Hoffmann was able to avoid any double-digit scores on his back nine. Jordan Booth had his scores of 58-62 not used in the team scoring. Although Booth did not have any double-digit holes, he had too many 7s, 8s, and 9s to really score well.
This completed the golfing career for Hoffmann and Booth but they will be able to use their skills as they start their career beyond high school. Lingenfelter, Springer, and Kaup will form a strong nucleus for the 2019 boys golf season. All three of these boys will golf this summer to make themselves better.
