7-12 Relay for LIfe Celebration Held
For the sixth year in a row, Plainview High School has won the Kids for Cures-Norfolk Area Relay for Life Competition raising a total of $842. The Omaha and Norfolk Area Relay for Life Coordinators held a celebration Monday, May 7th, for 7-12 grade students as a thank you.
Coordinators hosted a “Popsicle and Fudge Bar” Celebration Party providing students with the frozen treats and an amazingly fun game of Human Hungry Hippos. Students spent time cheering on their classmates as their “class team” tried to get as many balls as possible. The winning class was the seniors who received Hope Bracelets. The event ended by the seniors taking on the teacher team for one last round. The teachers were able to beat the seniors and won the remaining fudge pops. FCCLA and FFA Members will be presented the traveling trophy during the Norfolk Area Relay for Life on June 1st. The trophy will remain on display in the high school Media Center for another year.
FCCLA and FFA chapter members held two main fundraising events in March. FFA members held the Tractor Parade for Life and raising $200 and FCCLA held Jazzercise for Life and raised $530. FCCLA members also sold luminarias and cupcakes to raise an additional $112. The luminarias will line the track at the June 1st Norfolk Area Relay for Life Event.
