CTSO's Work to Collect Food for Local Food Pantry
Plainview CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) members met Monday, November 4th, for their Annual Food Pantry Drive. Members from FCCLA, Educators Rising, National Technical Honor Society, and FFA all joined forces to gather food for the Plainview Community. As many students are members of more than one organization, members felt this would be an excellent project to do together. Members began the night by dividing into mixed groups (we wanted to mix up the organized per group) and selected different areas of Plainview to ask residents for donations of non-perishable food items. Members spent an hour driving throughout Plainview collecting donations for our local Food Pantry. When returning, members counted the items for documentation for their state record keeping. Members were excited to find out that they had collected right at 350 items. “Members want to thank the community for their gracious contributions. With these donations, families in our community will continue to have their needs met," stated FCCLA/NTHS adviser Ronita Jacobsen. CTSO Members will be delivering the items to the Plainview Food Pantry in time for Thanksgiving needs.
The night concluded with members holding a joint meeting concerning the blood drive which the CTSOs host together. The Red Cross Blood Drive will be Tuesday, November 19, from 9am to 3pm at Plainview High School. FCCLA Officer also reminded members that the Mindbending Conference in Kearney is on November 11th in which four members would be attending. FCCLA members were also reminded to set appointments to meet with Mrs. Jacobsen to write their Power of One goals and to work on their STAR Projects.
