Educators Rising Week Honors Teachers and Education
Plainview High School's Educators Rising members made February memorable by organizing a full week of activities to celebrate Career and Technical Education Month. Led by members Ashlyn Forbes and Landon Hergert, with support from teacher leader Ronita Jacobsen, the group created events that brought the school community together from February 2-5.
The celebration kicked off on Monday with "Support Your Community." Educators Rising members crafted valentines for residents at the local Assisted Living facility, partnering with the Leading Ladies Organization to spread joy throughout the community. The handmade cards will be delivered the following week.
Tuesday's "Advocate for Education" day saw teachers and staff wearing "Teach Like a Pirate" and "I Love Public Schools" shirts. Students participated in an Educators Rising Logo Scavenger Hunt, with Makenzie Mosel and Ms. Fulsaas taking home the top prizes.
Wednesday shifted focus to "Teachers and Staff Appreciation," with educators enjoying fruit kabobs, chips, and dip prepared by the student organization. Thursday became "Spirit Day," featuring Educators Rising members in their official t-shirts alongside teachers wearing their college alma mater gear.Throughout the week, Ashlyn and Landon shared their personal "Light Bulb Moments" on the Educators Rising Bulletin Board, answering an important question: When did you know you wanted to be an educator? Their reflections inspired fellow students to consider careers in education.
Daily trivia questions kept students engaged, with winning classrooms earning prizes. Students learned about Ed Rising chapters in Nebraska, the organization's history, and its vision for the future.
