Jacobsen Honored at Commissioner’s Recognition
Shayla Jacobsen, 2025 Plainview High School Graduate, has earned prestigious recognition for her exceptional performance in career and technical education competitions. On November 24th, Jacobsen was honored at the Commissioner's Recognition for Excellence in Nebraska Career & Technical Education ceremony held at the Nebraska State Capitol Rotunda in Lincoln.
The event brought together top-performing members of Nebraska Career and Technical Student Organizations to celebrate their achievements on the national stage. Jacobsen's accomplishments span two major national competitions. She earned 4th Place in the Educators Rising Job Interview – Varsity Division at the Educators Rising National Leadership Conference this summer. The competition required participants to submit a cover letter and resume for a paraprofessional position, followed by a panel interview with professional evaluators.
Additionally, Jacobsen placed in the Top 10 at the FCCLA National Competition in the Job Interview – Level 3 STAR Event. This rigorous competition challenged her to select a qualified position, develop a comprehensive portfolio demonstrating her knowledge and skills, and participate in a professional interview.
Governor Jim Pillen and Dr. Brian Maher, Commissioner of Education, personally presented certificates to Jacobsen and other award recipients during the ceremony, recognizing their dedication to excellence in career and technical education.
"Shayla's achievements reflect her hard work, determination, and the support of her teachers and family," said Ronita Jacobsen, Educators Rising Teacher Leader/FCCLA Adviser "We are proud to have had such a talented student representing our school at the national level in not just one, but two CTSOs."
