FCCLA Begins to Calling for the Nov. 17th Blood Drive
FCCLA members will meet Tuesday, Nov. 3, to begin calling for the Red Cross Blood Drive. The drive will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the high school from 9 am to 3 pm. Donations are done by appointments only. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with a completed parental permission form), meet height and weight requirements (at least 110 pounds based on height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive identification (driver’s license).
To protect you and others, several safety precautions are made. Donors are required to wear a mask. If you arrive without one, one will be provided for you. Your temperature will be taken upon immediate entry into the school, before the donation site. After using hand sanitizer, you will then be guided to specific seating areas. On the day of the drive, if you still plan to be a walk-in, you will need to phone sponsor Ronita Jacobsen at 402-841-4566 to make an appointment. If you arrive without an appointment, you can make one for later in the day, but you will NOT be allowed to wait. This is to allow for appropriate social distancing and for the number of donor beds coming. If you are involved in a COVID vaccine trial, then you are deferred for one year. An additional change that may be noticed by donors who have not donated in a few months, is that after donating instead of the typical “canteen/refreshment area”, pre-packaged snacks and water are available to go. Only those donors who NEED to stay are allowed to do so.
If you have additional questions regarding donating or to set up an appointment, please call Ronita Jacobsen at the above number or at the high school (402) 582-4991.
