FCCLA Members Recognized at Awards Night

April 22, 2021

Shayla was recognized as Outstanding Member of the Year.

FCCLA hosted their Awards Nights at the High School Media Center on April 22.  The evening began with a welcome by President Jessica Booth.  Booth began the program with the opening ceremony followed with the Year in Review presented by Baili Prewitt, Brooke Forbes, and Shayla Jacobsen. 

 

Peace Akinnigbagbe shared information about the District Leadership Conference the chapter attended.  Shayla Jacobsen presented on the Legislative Workshop. Leighton Medina followed with a presentation on the Peer Education Conference that was attended. Marlena Curtiss spoke on the events of the State Leadership Conference and State STAR Competition that members attended.

 

Logan Jacobsen began the presentation of awards by presenting the STEP One Certificate to Brooke Forbes. This award is for her work in learning more about FCCLA, its purposes, and programs.

 

Students competing in STAR events received their District STAR Competition Certificates by Devon Tunender.   At districts, Shayla Jacobsen received a gold medal, and placed Runner-Up in her Repurpose and Redesign event, qualifying her for state.  At state competition she received first place and qualified for nationals.  Tunender presented Jacobsen with her certificate, medal, and trophy.

Seth Tunender presented the Power of One Awards.  Five members completed projects this year.  Logan Jacobsen and Devon Tunender received certificates for completing the “Working on Working” Module. Receiving certificates for completing “A Better You” Module were Brooke Forbes and Shayla Jacobsen.  Baili Prewitt received her certificate for completing “Speak Out for FCCLA”. Certificates received at District Conference were also presented to those who completed projects last year: Crystal Hintz “Working on Working”, Logan Jacobsen “A Better You”, and Shayla Jacobsen “Family Ties”.

Adviser Ronita Jacobsen presented outstanding member awards.  This year one member met the criteria for “Outstanding Member of the Year”.  Shayla Jacobsen was presented a trophy for the work she did this year in the categories of Chapter Contribution, Community Involvement, and Personal Development.  Members meeting the requirements to attend Summer Incentive Activity, based on chapter involvement, received their certificates. They were: Crystal Hintz, Jessica Booth, Logan Jacobsen, Seth Tunender, Baili Prewitt, Shayla Jacobsen, and Brooke Forbes. 

 

Seniors members, Brooklyn Kumm and Crystal Hintz were then presented their senior gifts by President Jessica Booth. The night concluded with a video of the year’s events and a dessert reception.
